Upton & North Elmsall Parish Council

The Brief

Upton & North Elmsall Parish Council needed a complete overhaul of their existing website. The old site had grown difficult to navigate, lacked proper document management, and was still operating on an outdated .co.uk domain — something that needed to change as parish councils are now required to use the official .gov.uk domain to signal legitimacy and public trust.

The council wanted residents to be able to find information quickly, access meeting minutes and official documents without frustration, and stay informed about local news and upcoming events.

What We Did

We rebuilt the site from the ground up in WordPress using Elementor, restructuring the entire content architecture to make it far simpler for residents to use.

The new navigation groups everything logically under four clear sections — About, Services & Activities, Community, and Contact — so visitors can find what they need in seconds rather than hunting through a cluttered menu.

We added a dedicated document management system covering council meetings and minutes, governance documents, and financial information, giving the council a structured, easy-to-update home for all their official paperwork.

A news and blog section was introduced to keep the community informed about local announcements, council decisions, and updates from the parish. Alongside this, a full events calendar was integrated so residents can see what's happening in Upton and North Elmsall at a glance — from village hall activities to council meetings.

On the technical side, we handled the full migration from the old .co.uk domain to the new official .gov.uk address, including redirect setup to ensure no existing links or search rankings were lost in the move.

The Result

The finished site is clean, accessible, and built around what residents actually need from a parish council website. The council can now manage their own documents, news, and events independently, and the move to the .gov.uk domain gives the site the authority and credibility expected of an official public body.
