Stomhaus
Stomhaus Ltd - Timber Frame Website Redesign
Launched: 13th April 2026
The Client
Stomhaus Ltd is a Leeds-based timber frame building company with over 14 years of experience designing, engineering and constructing bespoke annexes, lodges, cabins and garden buildings across the UK. Part of the wider Fin-håus group, Stomhaus occupy a distinctive position in the market - they're not a flatpack supplier or a catalogue company. Every build is designed around the client's brief, constructed on-site by their own team of time-served carpenters, and finished to a standard that has earned them a long list of five-star reviews from homeowners across Yorkshire and beyond.
Their product range spans compact 21m² micro lodges through to generous 100m² living spaces, covering granny annexes, leisure cabins, garden offices and full-time residential buildings - all built using FSC and PEFC certified Scandinavian timber.
The Brief
Stomhaus approached Wakefield Website Design looking for a full website redesign. Their existing site wasn't doing justice to the quality of their work. The visual presentation felt generic and didn't reflect the premium, crafted nature of what Stomhaus actually produce. Crucially, the site lacked the structure and content depth needed to support strong organic search performance - it wasn't telling the full story of what makes Stomhaus different, and it wasn't working hard enough to attract and convert enquiries.
The brief was clear: build a website that looks as good as the buildings, communicates trust and quality from the first click, supports the full product range with dedicated pages, and provides a solid SEO foundation for future growth.
Our Approach
We started, as we always do, by getting under the skin of the business. Stomhaus isn't selling a commodity - they're asking clients to make a significant investment in something that will sit in their garden or on their land for decades. The website needed to earn trust quickly, demonstrate the quality of the product through imagery and well-crafted copy, and guide visitors toward making an enquiry with confidence.
Design and Brand Direction
The Stomhaus brand has a strong Scandinavian identity, reflected in the naming conventions used across their product range - models like LUDVIKÅ 21, GRÅSBERG 50 and VRÅKÅ 100. We leant into this aesthetic throughout the design. The site uses clean, architectural typography, generous whitespace and a natural, muted colour palette that evokes the materials Stomhaus work with - timber, larch, cedar, render.
The homepage was designed to do several things at once: establish credibility immediately, communicate the breadth of what Stomhaus offer, and direct visitors into the product range or towards a quote. A strong hero section sets the tone - Scandinavian timber, Yorkshire craftsmanship, nationwide reach - while structured content sections below introduce the three main product categories: granny annexes and annexe living, timber lodges and cabins, and garden offices and outdoor retreats.
Site Structure and Content
One of the key improvements over the previous site was the introduction of individual portfolio pages for each model in the Stomhaus range. Rather than a single products page, each model - from the compact VÅSKÅRBØ 24 through to the spacious ØRSTÅ 86 - now has its own dedicated page. This serves both the user experience and the SEO strategy: it gives Stomhaus the ability to rank for specific, intent-led search terms while giving visitors the detail they need to self-qualify before getting in touch.
We also built out key supporting pages including a technical specification section, a comprehensive FAQs page addressing the questions that prospects most commonly ask before committing to a project, and a news and advice section to support ongoing content marketing.
Throughout all copy, we kept the voice consistent with the Stomhaus brand - confident, direct and knowledgeable, without being overly technical. The goal was to feel like a trusted expert talking to a homeowner, not a brochure talking at them.
SEO Foundations
The redesign presented an opportunity to build proper SEO foundations from the ground up. Every page was structured with clean heading hierarchies, keyword-informed page titles and meta descriptions, and copy written around the search terms that prospective clients actually use - granny annexes, timber frame annexes, garden lodges, log cabins, bespoke garden buildings and related phrases.
The product range pages were built with individual URL structures that support long-term SEO growth as content is developed further. Local signals were embedded throughout, with Stomhaus's Leeds base and nationwide reach both referenced clearly - important for a company that attracts enquiries from across the UK but benefits from strong regional authority in Yorkshire.
Page speed and mobile performance were treated as non-negotiable. The site loads cleanly on every device, with image optimisation and clean code ensuring fast delivery for visitors whether they're browsing on a desktop or a phone at the bottom of their garden wondering if there's room for an annexe.
Imagery and Visual Presentation
Stomhaus had a strong bank of photography from completed builds, and using it well was central to the redesign. We structured the site to showcase project photography throughout - not just in a gallery, but woven into every section of the homepage, product pages and supporting content. The builds speak for themselves when presented properly, and the site gives them the space to do exactly that.
The Result
The new Stomhaus website launched in spring 2026 and represents a step-change in how the business is presented online. It now accurately reflects the quality and craftsmanship behind the product, gives visitors the structure they need to explore the range and make an informed enquiry, and provides a strong technical and content foundation for ongoing SEO growth.
More importantly, it tells the Stomhaus story properly - 14 years of experience, their own team of carpenters, Scandinavian materials, and a client list that stretches from West Yorkshire to Wiltshire. That story is worth telling well. The new website does exactly that.
